Twitch Will Stream Gaming Event Live From The White House

Twitch announced that they will be hosting a gaming event live from the White House on December 12th. The ‘White House Competitive Gaming Event’ is meant to raise awareness about health insurance.

The event will last from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM EST. You will be able to watch the stream here. It is the first time the White House has hosted such an event.

“We appreciate how the White House has recognized the power and passion of our community,” said Brian Petrocelli, Twitch’s Product Marketing Manager.

“Their desire to present the Competitive Gaming Event to promote health coverage enrollment exemplifies how they continue to have their hand on the pulse of the younger generation.”

United States citizens can apply for healthcare through health insurance marketplaces. The marketplaces were put in place by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, also called “Obamacare.” They are meant to help citizens get coverage in their states of residence.

Among the major events taking place during the event are a Rocket League Pro-Am match featuring members of NRG esports. There will also be a Street Fighter V match between Justin Wong and Mike Ross.

Perhaps gaming streams from the White House will become more common in the White House given President-Elect Donald Trump’s desire to get tough on “cyber.” Even so, considering his opposition to the Affordable Care Act, I wouldn’t expect the next event to be about health insurance coverage.
